ICON Health Economics & Epidemiology is currently seeking to appoint a Consultant in Systematic Reviews/Evidence Synthesis to join its global team. This team is highly respected in the field of health economics and epidemiology for quality and innovation, undertaking consultancy projects for international clients in both the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors.

The candidate recruited for this role will be expected to utilise their skills in systematic reviews and/or evidence synthesis to contribute to all aspects of the department’s work as well as supporting the development of the team globally.

What you will do:

  • Recognize the importance of, and create a culture of process improvement with a focus on streamlining processes, adding value to our business and meeting client needs.
  • Lead, manage and quality check high quality delivery of evidence synthesis and analytical tasks and projects for clients to time and budget including indirect treatment comparison, network meta-analysis, survival/statistical analyses.
  • Provide strategic and technical expertise both to clients and internally, demonstrating experience across state-of-the-art methods in evidence synthesis including deterministic and Bayesian network meta analyses.
  • Proficiency in statistical packages for evidence synthesis including WinBugs/OpenBugs, R.
  • Understand the role of evidence synthesis within the HTA processes and support preparation HTA submissions.
  • Develop study designs and analytic plans to answer research questions.
  • Lead development of qualitative and/or quantitative analysis plans for evidence synthesis including network meta-analysis, literature review, statistical analysis and generate reports fit for client submission.
  • Lead development of deliverable document outline and format.
  • Support other project activities as needed, complete internal documentation and quality-check the work of others.
  • Analyze research problems and conceptually piece individual scientific tasks together to determine how the overall scientific goal will be achieved.
  • Develop a comprehensive set of sound recommendations on scientific methods and approaches that help clients meet their goals.
  • Proactively and independently expand knowledge base and remain current on developments, trends and best practices for subject matter expertise.
  • Efficiently manage own workload with respect to project scope, timelines and quality.
  • Manage and ensure maintenance of a positive and productive liaison with internal and external contacts, including regulatory agencies, clients, and related institutions.
  • Conceptualize and draft, or lead, a complete proposal based on a client idea or RFP.
  • Responsible for team alignment and support of BD efforts, including leading some smaller BD opportunities.
  • Modify proposals in response to client requests for changes and scientific insight for client’s strategic needs.
  • Lead project teams and identify staff resources required for efficiency, present the scope of work, and execute the scope by providing direction and feedback to that team.
  • Manage projects against internal timelines and budgets.
  • Act as an active lead in mentoring/coaching junior staff, and may have formal line management responsibilities.
  • Comply with all relevant SOPs, work programming, time-keeping, iLearns, policies and procedures.
