Position Summary
The Laminator will be responsible for the precise application of composite materials in the manufacturing of high‑performance components. The role requires strong attention to detail, commitment to quality, and hands‑on experience with hand lay‑up and vacuum bagging. The candidate will lead and develop a composite laminating team.
Key Responsibilities
- Use pre‑impregnated tooling fabric to laminate moulds directly from patterns, ensuring Technical Procedures/QA documentation, Work Orders and sign‑offs are adhered to.
- Apply vacuum bagging techniques to debulk.
- Position drill bushes in the mould laminate.
- Part moulds from patterns and prepare the tool before and after cure.
- Laminating components using pre‑impregnated carbon with various weave styles and impregnated with epoxy resin systems, ensuring Technical Procedures/QA documentation, Work Orders and sign‑offs are adhered to.
- Read and understand engineering drawings and Ply Books to extract relevant information.
- Use templates to enable repeatability where available.
- Ensure all paperwork is correct and completed at all times before starting the next operation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience as a Laminator in a composite manufacturing environment, preferably within the aerospace or automotive sectors.
- Strong knowledge of composite materials.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical work instructions.
- Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Understanding of quality control processes and standards in composite manufacturing.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to health and safety in the workplace.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes.
