Join ICOMAT – Revolutionising the Future of Lightweight Manufacturing!

i COMAT is an advanced manufacturing company that invented Rapid Tow Shearing (RTS) - the only proven technology for producing defect-free curved-fiber composite parts at industrial scale.

We deliver the lightest structures possible for aerospace, automotive, defense, and space, at a rate and cost efficiency that far exceeds existing composite production processes.

We build and operate automated factories for composite materials, delivering components to Tier 1 suppliers and OEMs.

The business has three main divisions: development of automated production machines, development of software design and production tools, and operation of the factory.

We work with 25+ customers and completed the largest ever Series A in composites manufacturing to fuel a significant scale-up, with growth plans that will see the business multiply in size over the next two to three years and expand operations into the UK, Europe and the US.

The business has currently more than 130,000 sqm of production capacity with manufacturing facilities in the UK (Gloucester and Swindon) and the US (Dayton, Ohio); a Hardware R&D Centre in Bristol, UK; and a Software R&D Centre in Athens, Greece.

The Role

We are looking for a skilled CNC Lather Operator with 5-axis experience to join our manufacturing team in Swindon.

You will be experienced at operating MAZAK CNC Lathes to produce high-precision components.

This role sits at the heart of our production capability — translating complex engineering designs into physical parts that meet exacting tolerances and the highest quality standards.

  • Key Responsibilties
  • Setting up the machines with the correct tools and fixtures to receive programs for machining a variety of parts across different machines.
  • Fine tune G codes, speeds and feeds to ensure programs run correctly.
  • Feedback to the CNC Programmer any recommended changes to cutter paths, cutting tools, speeds, and feeds based on material properties and machining requirements.
  • Where cycle times permit, operate multiple machines in parallel.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance production efficiency, reduce cycle times, and ensure high yield and quality output.
  • Work closely with programmers, engineers, and other team members to resolve technical issues and ensure seamless production workflows.
  • Provide and maintain detailed documentation of setup sheets and process parameters for future reference and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all materials and hours are recorded against each job card.
  • Check first part with inspection before a full batch is run, paying particular attention to tool wear.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in CNC Turning is essential, preferentially MAZAK and HAAS
  • Ability to use Mazatrol controls an advantage
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, materials, and tooling
  • High level of precision and attention to detail in all tasks
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve machining issues
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
  • Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines

Our Values: Uncompromising Excellence

  • Discipline over excuses. We commit. We follow through. We hold ourselves and each other to the highest standard, especially when the pressure is on.
  • Push the edge. i COMAT was built on a refusal to accept that curved fiber could not be manufactured at scale. We innovate where others hesitate.
  • Aligned and accountable. Everyone owns their lane, communicates openly, and delivers without being chased. No silos. No ambiguity.

Why i COMAT?

  • Competitive Salary & Benefits: We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including private healthcare, pension scheme.
