We have ensured iCOMAT is made up of people with the drive and imagination to grow a business that will revolutionise the use of composite materials to enable the next generation of lightweight cars, planes and spacecraft. We build and operate automated factories for composite materials, delivering components to Tier 1 and OEMs.

The business has 3 main divisions that focus on the development of automated production machines, development of software design and production tools and lastly the operation of the factory. Now working with over 25 customers (multiple leading OEMs) and earlier this year we completed the largest ever Series A in composites manufacturing to fuel a significant scale-up with growth plans that will see the business multiply in size over the next 2-3 years and expand operations into Europe and the US. The business currently has facilities in Gloucester UK (Factory 1), Bristol UK (Hardware R&D Centre) and in Athens GR (Software R&D Centre).

We are seeking a dynamic Business Development Lead to expand our footprint in the Space Industry by driving strategic relationships and delivering impactful solutions to new and existing partners.

What will you be doing?

  • Strategic Opportunity Development: Identify, assess, and pursue business opportunities within the space sector.
  • Proposal and Contract Management: Plan, develop, and execute technical proposals, bids, and contracts, including feasibility and demonstration projects for organisations like ESA and other key stakeholders.
  • Client and Partner Relations: Build and nurture relationships with key clients, development partners, and suppliers to secure long-term contracts and enhance iCOMAT’s reputation as a trusted partner.
  • Sector Representation: Represent iCOMAT at international conferences, trade bodies, and working groups, showcasing our advanced manufacturing capabilities and contributions to the Space Sector.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Engineering and Operations teams to ensure seamless project execution, fostering innovation and client satisfaction.
  • Market Intelligence: Gather market insights, identify trends, and leverage competitive intelligence to inform business strategy and strengthen iCOMAT’s market position within the Space Industry.

What do we need from you?

  • Industry Expertise: 7+ years of experience in Business Development or Sales, ideally within the Space Sector. Familiarity with composite materials or advanced manufacturing technologies is a plus.
  • Space Sector Acumen: A solid understanding of the space industry, including structural, thermal, or mechanical development methods, and experience working with space agencies such as ESA. Experience in structured environments with systemic programme management and quality requirements.
  • Proposal Management: Proven success in creating and managing technical and management proposals for technically focused clients.
  • Relationship Management: Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills to build enduring partnerships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strategic Mindset: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to drive market-focused strategies and achieve business goals.
