We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Contract Quality Technician to support quality assurance activities within a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring products meet stringent aerospace standards, customer requirements, and regulatory compliance, with a strong focus on APQP and PPAP processes.
What will you be doing?
- Perform inspection and verification of aerospace components and assemblies to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Support Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities across new product introduction and process changes.
- Prepare, review, and compile Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation packages in line with customer and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct first article inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 standards.
- Assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions using structured problem-solving methods (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys).
- Ensure compliance with AS9100 quality management systems and internal procedures.
- Monitor manufacturing processes to ensure consistent product quality and identify improvement opportunities.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, non-conformance reports, and quality documentation.
- Support internal and external audits, including customer and regulatory audits.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues.
What do we need from you?
Must have:
- Proven experience as a Quality Technician in aerospace or high-precision manufacturing.
- Strong working knowledge of APQP and PPAP methodologies.
- Experience with First Article Inspection (FAI) and AS9102 documentation.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T, and specifications.
- Hands-on experience with inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, CMM).
- Familiarity with non-conformance management and corrective action processes.
- Good understanding of AS9100 / ISO 9001 standards.
- Proficiency in quality documentation and reporting tools.
Nice to have:
- HNC/HND or equivalent in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Quality discipline.
- Certification in quality methodologies or auditing (e.g., Internal Auditor).
- Experience working with aerospace OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis and SPC techniques.
