Join iCOMAT – Revolutionising the Future of Lightweight Manufacturing! iCOMAT is an advanced manufacturing company with game changing technology that delivers the lightest structures possible for aerospace and automotive, at a scale, rate and cost efficiency that far exceeds existing composite production processes. We have ensured iCOMAT is made up of people with the drive and imagination to grow a business that will revolutionise the use of composite materials to enable the next generation of lightweight cars, planes and spacecraft. We build and operate automated factories for composite materials, delivering components to Tier 1 and OEMs. The business has 3 main divisions that focus on the development of automated production machines, development of software design and production tools and lastly the operation of the factory.
iCOMAT has pioneered the revolutionary Rapid Tow Shearing (RTS) technology, the first ever defect-free fibre-steering process for composites. This game-changing solution helps customers unlock new levels of performance from composites across aerospace and automotive applications. Now working with over 25 customers (multiple leading OEMs) and earlier this year we completed the largest ever Series A in composites manufacturing to fuel a significant scale-up with growth plans that will see the business multiply in size over the next 2-3 years and expand operations into Europe and the US. With 2 facilities in the UK, 1 facility in Dayton (Ohio-US) and plans for a European R&D and manufacturing site, we are scaling rapidly to meet growing demand.
As we scale and grow, we’re looking for talented individuals to help us continue driving this transformation. If you’re ready to be part of a pioneering team that’s reshaping industries and pushing the boundaries of technology, we want to hear from you!
What will you be doing?
- Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities across the European and UK aerospace ecosystem – airframers, aerostructure Tier 1s, engine OEMs, and MRO organisations
- Build and manage a pipeline of high-value aerospace prospects using a structured, disciplined sales methodology
- Develop relationships with engineering leads, program managers, and procurement decision-makers at OEMs and primes such as Airbus, BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, Safran, Leonardo, and their supply chains
- Lead commercial discussions from first contact through to contract close, including pricing, proposals, and NDAs
- Represent iCOMAT at aerospace industry events (e.g. JEC World, Farnborough, Paris Air Show, Aircraft interiors) with confidence and technical credibility
- Collaborate with engineering and design teams to translate customer requirements into viable composite part proposals
- Maintain rigorous CRM discipline – pipeline accuracy, forecasting, and activity tracking in Pipedrive
- Contribute to market intelligence – competitive landscape, European aerospace program timelines, funding opportunities, and emerging demand signals
What do we need from you?
- 7+ years of business development or technical sales experience in aerospace, aerostructures, composites, or a related advanced manufacturing sector
- A track record of closing complex, multi-stakeholder deals with long sales cycles typical of aerospace OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers
- Strong technical fluency – you can hold your own in conversations with stress engineers, program leads, and heads of manufacturing
- Experience navigating large aerospace organisations (Airbus, BAE, Safran, Leonardo, or equivalent) and building relationships at multiple levels
- Commercial instinct paired with process discipline – you know how to run a pipeline, not just fill one
- Willingness to travel regularly (up to 30–40%) to customer sites, events, and iCOMAT facilities across Europe and the UK
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English – clear, direct, no fluff. Additional European languages (French, German, Italian, Spanish) are a strong advantage
Nice to Have
- Direct experience with composite materials, CFRP manufacturing processes, or fibre placement / fibre-reinforced structures
- Understanding of aerospace certification and qualification cycles (e.g. AS9100, NADCAP, OEM qualification processes)
- Experience with European aerospace procurement and supply chain onboarding processes
- Familiarity with CRM tools like Pipedrive or similar
- Existing network within the European aerospace supply chain
Why iCOMAT?
