We are currently seeking a multi-skilled Data Centre Engineer to join their team in Acton/ Ealing, West London. In this role, you will work within a small team providing critical services to a prestigious international financial organization.
Responsibilities:- Working a 24x7x365 shift pattern (4 days on/4 days off, 4 nights on/4 nights off).
- Managing change control, incidents, and resolution.
- Tracking and managing assets.
- Supervising and escorting third-party vendors.
- Planning and implementing IT hardware installations adhering to strict Data Centre standards.
- Planning and decommissioning network hardware and structured cabling.
- Updating all relevant documentation and inventories.
- Completing service requests within agreed SLAs.
- Ensuring compliance with our client’s and the end-user's Health & Safety and Quality Standards.
- Maintaining security procedures regarding the Data Centre environment.
- Maintain Data Centre toolsets that assist with support and management.
- Provide management and governance over the Data Centre.
- Work closely with facilities providers to maximize energy efficiency.
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the site, including installations, decommissions, and maintenance.
- Support Data Centre service improvement and major infrastructure projects (e.g., power outages/replacements).
- Perform basic server configuration (IDRAC, ILO) and fault finding.
- Manage racking, stacking, moves, changes, and patching.
- Manage complex inter-rack/room cable infrastructure to provide a stable platform for IT connectivity.
- Experience: Proven background in a similar role within high-risk environments or Data Centres.
- Technical Knowledge: Sound understanding of infrastructure technologies and networking concepts.
- Tools: Experience with DCIM tools and ticketing systems like ServiceNow or Remedy (desirable).
- Software: Competence in MS Office and Helpdesk/Service Delivery applications.
- Attributes: A reliable team player with strong attention to detail and a proactive approach.
- Skills: Excellent communication (written and verbal) and strong organizational/administrative skills.
- Adaptability: The ability to work under pressure, use your own initiative, and maintain a flexible approach to shift patterns.
