Job Description: Data Cabling Contract Engineer Location: London (Multiple Sites) Sector: Commercial Fit-out & Data Centre Construction Engagement: Contract (Weekly Pay) Standard Hours: 07:30/08:00 start (8-hour minimum; 10β12 hour shifts available) Position Overview We are currently recruiting experienced Data Cabling Contract Engineers to support a variety of structured cabling installation projects throughout London. The roles involve working within active commercial construction sites and live data centre environments. We are looking for productive, self-starting professionals who can work effectively as part of a technical team. Technical Scope of Work Copper Installation: Professional installation, termination, and testing of Cat6 and Cat6a cabling. Fibre Optics: Skilled handling and installation of various fibre optic cable types. Testing & Documentation: Ensuring all installations meet project specifications through rigorous testing and precise labeling. Essential Requirements To qualify for this role, engineers must have the following in place: Certification: A valid ECS Card is mandatory. Tooling: Must provide own hand tools for data termination, as well as power tools (specifically drills). Labelling: Ownership of a Dymo or equivalent industrial labeling machine. Safety: Full 5-point PPE (Hard Hat, High-Vis, Steel Toe Boots, Safety Glasses, and Gloves). Experience: Proven background in structured cabling within construction or data centre settings. Desired Qualifications The following certifications are not required but are highly advantageous: IPAF / PASMA licenses. SMSTS / SSSTS site supervision qualifications. 1st Aid Manual Handling, Asbestos Awareness, Working at Heights Working Hours & Compensation Day Rates: Paid on a weekly basis. Ideally, looking for contractors set up with UTR numbers, to be paid via the CIS scheme. Shift Patterns: Standard days start between 07:30 and 08:00 for a minimum of 8 hours. Overtime: For engineers seeking additional hours, 10β12 hour shifts are frequently available depending on project requirements.
