Hourly Paid Campus Support Technician – Leeds

Job Details

  • Contract: Hourly Paid
  • Salary: ÂŁ12.60 per hour
  • Location: SAE Creative Media Institute, Leeds

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and guidance to students during practical sessions, helping them get the most out of their learning environment.
  • Assist the Campus Manager in maintaining a prideful campus estate and supporting Health and Safety.
  • Offer front‑line exemplary service and technical support to students across all academic disciplines.
  • Ensure classrooms and studios are prepared for lessons, maintained, and kept clean and professional.
  • Oversee and facilitate student‑directed study in timetabled sessions.
  • Support open events, trips, showcases (both on campus and at external locations), including configuration, transport, and set‑up of equipment.
  • Deliver demonstrations, tutorials and practical assessments, supporting students during sessions.
  • Demonstrate the safe, effective use of equipment and software, troubleshooting and resolving any issues.
  • Work cooperatively and flexibly with the team, contributing actively to all courses and events.
  • Enforce appropriate student behaviour and studio usage during practical sessions.
  • Participate in team meetings and share feedback on student progress.
  • Facilitate student studio bookings, collection and returns of equipment, and monitor attendance of practical sessions.
  • Keep records of equipment loans to students.
  • Stay up to date with new technologies and industry trends.

Estates Maintenance and Management

  • Operate and maintain specialist facilities including studios, edit suites and technical equipment.
  • Take responsibility for equipment and resources, resolving and reporting faults immediately.
  • Open and lock up the campus and building as required.
  • Act as fire marshal and appointed first responder.
  • Ensure Health and Safety issues are assessed and monitored appropriately.
  • Monitor stock levels for consumables and raise orders.
  • Manage and maintain the asset register/databases, tracking, organising and distributing equipment and resources as required.

Other Duties

  • Work and act in accordance with SAE\’s values, adhering to all policies and procedures.
  • Undertake any other duties as required, commensurate with experience and seniority.
  • Promote and ensure safe working practices and team well‑being.
  • Demonstrate and promote professional and ethical behaviour and appearance at all times.
  • Support periods of absence and workload peaks and troughs across the regional team.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Demonstrated performance in provision of tutorial and technical support, evidenced by positive feedback from students, staff and stakeholders.
  • Attendance at all SAE events as required.
  • Familiarity with SAE policies and procedures.
  • Accurate and timely record‑keeping with tasks completed in line with deadlines.
  • Colleague feedback reflecting flexible, supportive and productive teamwork.
  • A safe, professional, clean and productive work environment.
  • Professional representation of the campus, enhancing its image and reputation.
  • Completion of all duties on time and as directed.

Essential Qualifications

  • Good degree in a related field.
  • Knowledge of and industry experience in a related discipline area.
  • Technical ability or willingness to learn/understand hardware/software.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work, with priority, organisation and workload management.
  • Right to work in the UK and live within commuting distance to Leeds campus.
  • Availability for evenings and weekends when required.
  • Preferably audio engineering or film production experience.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Technical ability or willingness to learn hardware/software associated with degree programmes.
  • Experience teaching or training practical skills in related topics.
  • A passion for creative media.
  • Experience in Project‑Based Learning, Flipped Classroom and other contemporary learning facilitation methods.
  • Experience using technology in learning, including Virtual Learning Environments.
