We are looking for an outstanding individual to join our dynamic investment team in our Epsom office that principally manages Utilico Emerging Markets Trust plc, a FTSE 250 constituent and Morningstar 5 Star rated fund. The successful applicant will have strong analytical, numerical, written and communications skills with a passionate interest in global and emerging markets, a strong academic record and ideally will be studying or will have completed the CFA program. They will be expected to assist the senior investment analysts and fund managers with analysis of publicly listed emerging and frontier market companies predominantly in the infrastructure and utilities space. The role will include modelling company financials, summarising news and results, direct liaison with companies and sell side brokers as well as fund administration tasks. The role is office based in Epsom, Surrey (KT18 7EP) and the successful applicant will be required to work from the office at least four days a week.
Responsibilities
- Valuation models of individual companies (P&L, balance sheet and cash flows) to ascertain buying / selling levels
- Tracking and analysis of industry, company and macro trends
- Assisting senior analysts with investee companies results and meeting notes, board reports and marketing materials
- Attending company meetings (UK and occasionally abroad) with senior team members
- Fund administration including trading, settlements and FX
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of accounting and excellent academic background
- Be a recent graduate with an excellent academic history and a strong enthusiasm for the role or an individual with 1-3 years’ experience in equity/credit markets as a research analyst (buyside or sellside) or a quantitative role in the financial sector
- Studying for/completed CFA or ACA/ACCA qualified
- Interest in emerging markets, equity investing and a willingness to travel
