Law Reporter The Incorporated Council of Law Reporting for England and Wales (ICLR) is looking for a barrister or solicitor to work in its reporter team, based on Chancery Lane and at the Royal Courts of Justice in London. ICLR is the specialist publisher of the official Law Reports and the Weekly Law Reports. ICLR publishes law reports for all cases in England and Wales which are assessed as reportable, along with the transcripts of all monitored judgments, and is a legal charity set up in 1865 specifically for this purpose. The law reporter role provides the core value-add for the work of ICLR and involves monitoring cases, assessing judgments for reportability, creating metadata for all assessed judgments, drafting law reports for cases selected as reportable and providing further intelligence on these decisions and outputs as required. Key Responsibilities Monitoring and assessment: Liaising with manager and other members of court team to ensure all courts and judgments are covered Following hearings of potentially reportable cases in the Royal Courts of Justice or elsewhere to take notes of legal argument and ex tempore judgments Reading judgments to decide whether of sufficient importance to be reported Enhancing and indexing case records for all allocated judgments Recommendations and decisions on reportability Making recommendations and decisions on repo…
