Work as part of the Teesdock E,C&I team to ensure all site machinery and equipment performs safely and efficiently through planned inspections, effective fault-finding, timely repairs, and proactive maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety & Compliance
    • Complete statutory inspections and reports in line with legislation and site requirements.
    • Comply with current Health & Safety regulations, risk assessments, method statements, and site-specific rules.
    • Conduct and document electrical isolations per company procedures.
    • Maintain awareness of evolving health and safety standards.
  • Maintenance & Operations
    • Inspect, fault‑find, maintain and repair ship, rail, wagon, loading and unloading machinery, conveyor systems, and switchgear.
    • Use tools such as root cause analysis (RCA) and mean time before failure (MTBF) to analyse problems and implement permanent solutions.
    • Plan and execute work based on shift reports and inspections.
    • Utilise the Permit to Work system; issue permits as authorised.
    • Maintain accurate maintenance records and compile reports using SAP.
  • Teamwork & Communication
    • Collaborate effectively with engineering and production colleagues to minimise downtime.
    • Provide feedback on equipment condition and job progress to supervisors and team members.
    • Interpret and act upon technical manuals, verbal instructions, and previous reports.
  • Problem Solving & Decision Making
    • Respond promptly and independently to equipment issues, using sound judgment under pressure.
    • Suggest improvements in equipment performance, safety, tooling, or working practices.
  • Resource Use
    • Use parts and consumables responsibly to reduce waste and cost.
    • Ensure tooling and materials are used efficiently and safely.

The Requirements

  • Time‑served EC&I Technician in a heavy industrial, mining, or processing environment.
  • Experience in heavy industry, ports, manufacturing, or similar environments (preferred but not essential).
  • Experience with instruments, DCS, SCADA and PLC control systems.
  • Level 2 Skills for Life (Numeracy, Literacy, ITQ) or GCSE equivalent/higher.
  • Relevant engineering qualifications (Preferably Advanced Apprenticeship and HNC).
  • Certification in Risk Assessment and IOSH Working Safely (or willingness to achieve).
  • Strong communication skills—verbal and written.
