hVIVO has a vacancy for an experienced IT Engineer to join the team here. The role is full time and permanent based in Canary Wharf and is on site 3 days per week. As an IT Engineer, you will be a vital part of our collaborative IT team, acting as a technical anchor for our group-wide operations. You won’t just be dealing with user issues; you’ll be collaborating with the rest of the team to deliver a reliable and outstanding service. We operate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where uptime is just the baseline. Your mission is to evolve and enhance our IT landscape, driving efficiencies that empower every department to succeed.
Main Responsibilities
- Managing User Accounts, Devices and Applications
- Supporting Windows builds, imaging, and configuration
- Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting business applications
- Managing mobile devices (often via MDM platforms like Intune)
- Creating, modifying, and disabling accounts in systems like Active Directory, Azure AD, and SaaS platforms
- Handling permission changes, group memberships, and MFA issues
- Ensuring access requests follow security and compliance processes
Compliance & Governance (GxP)
- Validation Management: Maintain the validated state of critical systems in accordance with GxP standards. You will ensure that system lifecycles—from deployment to retirement adhere to rigorous quality and compliance frameworks.
- Change Control: Manage system updates and configuration changes through a structured Change Control process, ensuring that risk is mitigated and documentation is audit-ready.
Systems Administration & Reliability
- Troubleshooting infrastructure issues (network, server, application, hardware) and work with the infrastructure team/3rd parties to resolve them
- Performing deeper diagnostics using tools like event logs, monitoring systems, and remote access
- Ensuring incidents are resolved within SLA and properly documented
Supporting Projects & Improvements
- Assisting with rollouts (software deployments, hardware refreshes, migrations)
- Testing new technologies before wider deployment
- Providing feedback to improve processes and user experience
Service Excellence & Operations
- Advanced Troubleshooting: Assist with the administration of the IT Helpdesk, acting as an escalation point for complex technical issues that require deeper system knowledge
- Operational Flexibility: Participate in a flexible support model to ensure business continuity. This includes standard office hours and occasional, pre-planned out-of-hours support as required by project milestones or critical maintenance
- Trend Analysis: Don’t just fix issues—monitor them. Use support data to identify recurring technical themes and implement permanent structural improvements.

- Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2019/2022
- Microsoft 365 Administration (Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams)
- Modern Identity Management (SSO, MFA, Conditional Access)
- Endpoint Management using Intune / Autopilot
- Microsoft Azure (Compute, Storage, Networking, App Services)
- System lifecycle management best practices

- Advanced troubleshooting across cloud, network, and application layers
Desirable Requirements
- Life sciences industry experience
