Assistant Manager – Ichimaru Udon Cambridge
£37,500 per year
45-hour contract | 5 days per week
We are looking for a confident and motivated Assistant Manager to join the team at Ichimaru Udon Cambridge.
Ichimaru is a fast-paced Japanese casual dining concept specialising in freshly prepared udon, rice dishes and Japanese favourites. This role would suit someone who enjoys being hands-on, leading from the floor and supporting the General Manager with the day-to-day running of the restaurant.
As Assistant Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining high operational standards, developing the team and helping the restaurant achieve its commercial targets.
What you'll be responsible for:
Supporting the General Manager with the day-to-day operation of the restaurant
Leading shifts and ensuring excellent service throughout the day
Coaching, supporting and developing team members
Helping manage rotas, labour and staffing levels in line with business needs
Supporting recruitment, onboarding and training
Maintaining high standards of food quality, service and cleanliness
Ensuring food safety, health & safety and company procedures are followed
Supporting stock control, ordering, waste management and cost control
Handling customer feedback and resolving issues professionally
Supporting sales-building activity and local initiatives
Completing opening and closing procedures
Taking responsibility for the restaurant when the General Manager is not present
Working closely with the General Manager, Area Manager and wider Operations team
What we're looking for:
Previous experience as an Assistant Manager, Deputy Manager, Supervisor or similar hospitality management role
Experience within a busy restaurant, casual dining or quick-service environment
Strong communication and people-management skills
A positive, hands-on leadership style
Good understanding of food safety and operational standards
Commercial awareness around sales, labour and cost control
Strong organisation and ability to prioritise during busy periods
Someone who is reliable, proactive and comfortable taking ownership
