As a core member of the execution desk, you will be responsible for executing trades in Japanese cash equities, equity swaps, foreign exchange (FX), and related instruments. You will work closely with the investment and operations teams to ensure efficient trade execution, effective risk management, and seamless post-trade processes. The role requires strong market knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced investment environment while maintaining the highest standards of execution and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute buy and sell orders for Japanese cash equities, equity swaps, foreign exchange (FX), and related instruments across on-exchange and off-exchange markets using algorithmic trading platforms.
  • Manage trade execution, order flow, and execution timing to minimize market impact and transaction costs while achieving best execution.
  • Monitor market news, corporate announcements, and real-time market movements to support timely and informed trading decisions.
  • Prepare and report weekly trading activity and portfolio updates to the investment team and management.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, executing regular performance reviews and ensuring efficient trade execution and market access.

Collaboration & Analysis

  • Partner closely with portfolio managers and research analysts to convert investment decisions into execution strategies.
  • Conduct post-trade analysis and evaluate algorithm performance to continuously refine execution quality.

Risk, Operations & Compliance

  • Work closely with the operations team and brokers to resolve trade discrepancies, settlement issues, and trade confirmation exceptions in a timely manner.
  • Monitor trading activities to ensure compliance with internal policies, best execution standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate trading records and support internal, compliance, and regulatory reporting as required.
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of trading processes, controls, and execution workflows to improve operational efficiency and mitigate risk.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience: 10 years+ of direct equity trading experience on the buy-side or sell-side, with a strong emphasis on Japanese equity markets.
  • Strategy Alignment: Deep understanding of Japanese equities, market structure and algorithmic execution tools.
  • Language Skills: Native or business-level fluency in English is required. Business-level fluency in Japanese is highly advantageous given the fund's market focus and local broker interactions.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Bloomberg, Execution Management Systems (EMS), and Microsoft Excel. Experience with Bloomberg or similar trading platforms is an advantage. Basic programming skills in Python and/or SQL for execution analytics and process automation are a plus.
  • Core Competencies: Strong analytical and quantitative skills, sound judgment, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to make effective decisions in fast-moving market conditions. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across investment, operations, and compliance teams while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
