Purpose of Role
To primarily manage a caseload of varied EL/PL cases. The majority of the cases will be Fast Track with the potential to handle Multi Track cases, with some business to consumer and business to business matters. The role supports the Senior Litigation Solicitor and includes providing guidance to the Pre-litigation team. The team is looking to explore its involvement in regulatory work. Experience in this area is desired but is not essential.
Key Accountabilities
- Handling a caseload of EL/PL files. The majority of the cases will be Fast Track with the potential to handle Multi track cases
- Advising on liability and quantum
- Initial report/review and setting strategy for the management of the claim
- Undertaking investigations remotely or at store
- Reviewing evidence (e.g. Accident report documentation, training records)
- Drafting straightforward Defences and Counter Schedules
- Preparing Disclosure
- Drafting/reviewing witness evidence
- Considering and reporting on medical evidence
- Instructing Counsel/investigators/medical and other experts
- Advising on costs
- Instructing external Law Costs Draftsman
- Preparing pre-trial reports
- Attending conferences and trial (if required) with Counsel
- Ensuring compliance with the SRA Code of Conduct
- Keeping appraised of legal developments

Ensuring that business and insurer MI is accurate
Technical Skills
- Qualified solicitor or CILEX with full litigation practice rights
- At least 3 years PQE, but we will consider those with relevant pre-qualification experience
- Must be a strong team player
- Experience of handling a caseload of EL/PL files
- Willingness to upskill on regulatory matters e.g. HSE/ Local Authority investigation and prosecutions
- Ability to prioritise work, keep to deadlines
- IT skills. Candidate must be self-sufficient
- Exposure to regulatory work
- Good Insurer care skills and evidence of working to Insurer guidelines
