About The Role
At Iceland, innovation sits at the heart of everything we do. As a Product Developer, you’ll play a key role in bringing exciting, high‑quality chilled and frozen products to market that delight our customers and deliver real value. Based at our Innovation Centre in Deeside, you’ll work cross‑category within a highly collaborative and supportive team of Product Developers, Development Chefs, Technologists and Trading teams. This is a hands‑on role for someone passionate about food, curious about trends and excited by creating products customers love.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting the creative development process from initial brief through to creative sign‑off, working closely with suppliers and Development Chefs.
- Leading and supporting benchmarking sessions, market reviews, product panels, showcases and supplier innovation sessions.
- Ensuring products meet or exceed agreed briefs from quality, consumer and value perspectives.
- Acting as the product expert, capturing and documenting key attributes throughout development and maintaining clear product history.
- Working with suppliers to optimise cooking and usage instructions, ensuring best possible consumer experience.
- Adhering to the gate process, managing the critical path and providing clear, constructive feedback at every stage.
- Collaborating closely with technical teams to support QAS generation, product sign‑off and first production approval.
- Staying ahead of emerging food trends, market activity and competitor launches, identifying opportunities for innovation.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in Product Development within Food/FMCG (qualification desirable but not essential).
- Proven experience delivering New Product Development to market.
- Strong food knowledge and culinary skills, with a genuine passion for food.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Confident communicator who builds strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.
- Proactive, agile and open‑minded, with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Comfortable working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
