PURPOSE OF ROLE
As a Merchandiser, you will be the Space Planning expert for your own categories. You will be responsible for the planning, management and delivery of your planograms in line with a fast-paced Trading Calendar. You will be required to:
- Create Planograms that drive sales and profitability whilst maintaining customer choice
- Achieving a distinct point of difference across the relevant product categories through the manipulation of space and range.
- Seek every opportunity to maximise the return from space whilst maintaining planogram aesthetics and minimising changes within retail.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- To ensure planograms fit and are logical for the customer
- To ensure planograms deliver the maximum return from the space and are reflective of sales, profit, units and waste management
- To ensure space allocation and product distribution reflects rate of sale by equipment, format and region
- Ensure the key merchandising principles are adopted in the production of planograms
- To regularly complete in depth analysis on performance by space including sales and profit per space to identify over and under performing areas
- To provide relevant category sales and space data to other areas of the business with recommendations of ways to increase revenue
- Assist & advise Trading, Product Supply and Retail to ensure the right solutions are reached from both a commercial and retail aspect
- Control range size and range exit plans
- Minimise silt & deranged stock through efficient layout & hold list management
- Active role in the new store and refit rollout programme, through supporting the Floorplanning and Format Development teams
- Liaising with the Floorplanning team to ensure relevant space recommendations are made
Other Duties
- Responsible for the accurate ranging of all stores – new and current
- Regular store visits, on own, with team, Trading Managers and Area Managers
- Regular competitor visits and use of market data to develop good commercial knowledge
- To protect stores from unnecessary workload
