About the Team Portal is the platform that connects Wayve to the outside world. The Portal team acts as the airlock between Wayve and its external partners: handling data flows, system integrations and direct use by OEMs. We operate as a startup within a scale-up: small, high-ownership, and working at the frontier of AV commercialisation.
The Role This is a partner-facing engineering role. You'll work directly with Wayve's automaker partners; building the solutions they need and resolving technical issues as they arise. You will split your time between building partner-facing product features, developing integrations between systems, improving observability and reliability, and resolving complex production issues when they arise.
What You'll Do
- Build software at the interface of OEM and Wayve systems APIs, cross-cloud integrations, and user-interfaces.
- Customer-obsessed: work directly with our OEM partners to understand their needs and build impactful solutions with the Portal team.
- Triage and resolve technical issues with Portal; whether reported by customers or detected through internal monitoring.
- Build monitoring and alerting tooling to proactively detect, triage and resolve integration issues before they impact customers.
- Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rotation as part of a follow-the-sun 24/7 coverage model.
- Support European OEM partners; build relationships with their engineers and teams.
What We're Looking For
- Customer-facing technical experience: solutions engineering, technical support, integration engineering or similar.
- Backend engineering (we have Java and Python services).
- Experience participating in on‑call or support rotation, or supporting a production system.
- Operational Cloud Infrastructure experience (Azure preferred).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills: comfortable working directly with external enterprise partners.
- Product‑minded: you think about customer problems and build solutions to fix them.
- High autonomy and ownership: comfortable in ambiguous, fast‑changing environments.
- Motivated by a startup within a scale‑up environment: small team, big impact, enterprise partners.
Nice to Have
- Experience building APIs for external users.
- Frontend development experience.
- Experience working with automotive or mobility industry partners.
- Background in SRE, DevOps or cloud operations.
- Experience building or operating monitoring or observability tooling.
