ICEE Group is seeking a qualified and experienced Data Centre Engineer / Smart Hands Contractor to support the delivery of works across live data centre and critical infrastructure environments. This role is suited to a hands‑on engineer with strong technical capability, a professional approach, and previous experience working within controlled, high‑security, or business‑critical environments.
The successful candidate will support a range of installation, maintenance, cabling, and on‑site technical tasks, working closely with project teams, site contacts, and other engineers to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out Smart Hands support within live data centre environments
- Support installation, patching, testing, and fault-finding activities
- Assist with cabinet, rack, and equipment works as required
- Complete structured cabling and associated containment tasks
- Follow site‑specific access, security, and health and safety procedures
- Work from technical instructions, job packs, drawings, and project documentation
- Provide clear updates to project leads and site contacts
- Ensure all work is completed in line with ICEE standards and client requirements
- Travel nationally to support project delivery where required
- Previous experience working in data centres or critical infrastructure environments
- SC Clearance
- Strong understanding of Smart Hands duties and live‑site working procedures
- Experience with structured cabling, patching, rack work, and equipment support
- Ability to work independently and represent ICEE professionally on site
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe working practices
- Good communication skills and reliability
- Willingness to travel nationwide
