Want to do the best work of your life? Make your mark at Europe’s leading entertainment brand. Our people make Sky a truly exciting and inclusive place to work – a place where you can be yourself and let your skills shine.

Sky News is looking for a brilliant news editor to lead our coverage of science, climate and technology. They are the most exciting subjects in the world; we want to transmit that to new audiences, to inform and inspire, and build on our innovative track record by delivering more impactful and authoritative work in this field than any other newsroom. We are looking for someone who can work in tandem with colleagues to provide strategic editorial leadership across these subjects.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage the work and rotas of the small team of onscreen correspondents, online reporters and producers dedicated to this diverse and dynamic group of subjects.
  • Contribute ideas and efforts to our day-to-day journalism, and to wider specialist projects.
  • Work closely with colleagues in the specialist team, the home news desk, and our digital platforms.
  • Support your team by keeping abreast of upcoming stories in science, climate & technology, and what our rival organisations are doing on these subjects.

What you’ll bring:

  • Accomplished newsroom leadership; able to manage the team, build relationships with colleagues and external partners, and enthusiastic about enrolling others into their vision.
  • A track record of journalistic accomplishment; if it’s in a relevant subject, that’s an advantage but not crucial.
  • An enthusiasm and appetite for embracing the potential of digital platforms in the delivery of high quality video journalism.

Team Overview:

At Sky News, our mission is to bring you the full story, first. We take you there, 24:7, reporting from the heart of the events changing our world. We ask the big questions of everyone, revealing what you want to know. And our style is bold and independent, giving you a fresh perspective. In the UK, Sky News is a compelling alternative to the public service broadcasters and opinion-driven news outlets, reaching one in three people every month. Across the world, we are one of the most-followed English language news brands on social media, bringing award-winning British journalism to a global audience. Sky News is part of Sky, one of Europe’s leading media and entertainment companies, owned by Comcast Corporation.

The Rewards:

There’s one thing people can’t stop talking about when it comes to #LifeAtSky: the perks. Here’s a taster:

  • Sky Q, for the TV you love all in one place
  • The magic of Sky Glass at an exclusive rate
  • A generous pension package
  • Private healthcare
  • Discounted mobile and broadband
  • A wide range of Sky VIP rewards and experiences

Inclusion:

We take pride in our approach to diversity and inclusion: we’ve been recognised by The Times and Stonewall for this, and we’ve committed £30 million to support the fight against racial injustice. We’ve also set ambitious targets for increasing ethnic diversity and representation throughout our organisation. At Sky we don’t just look at your CV. We’re more focused on who you are and the potential you’ll bring to Sky. We also know that everyone has a life outside work, so we’re happy to discuss flexible working. And we’ll do everything we can to support you during your application. If you need us to make any adjustments to our recruitment process, speak to our recruitment team who will be happy to support you.

Why wait? Apply now to build an amazing career and be part of a brilliant team. We can’t wait to hear from you.

Just so you know: if your application is successful, we’ll ask you to complete a criminal record check. And depending on the role you have applied for and the nature of any convictions you may have, we might have to withdraw the offer.
