The Opportunity

We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Senior Structures/Bridge Engineer to join our Amey Consulting team in Manchester . The role involves shared office space with remote work options. We welcome applications from Senior Structural/Bridge Engineers across this region.

Scotland is a significant growth area for Amey, managing long-term trunk road network contracts and various projects with Transport Scotland, Local Authorities, and contractors across the country, providing excellent opportunities for professional development.

The role

As a Senior Structures/Bridges Engineer, you will support your Design Team Leader, lead projects, mentor junior staff, and be responsible for:

Leading a team and producing sound engineering solutions.
Managing projects from start to finish, including quotation preparation and handover.
Preparing and checking designs, calculations, and documentation.
Overseeing junior staff and contributing to their development.
Liaising with clients and suppliers, attending meetings, and responding to queries.
Managing a small technical team and their workload.
Contributing to bids and work-winning activities.
Driving health and safety practices within the team.

What you will bring to us

Experience and expertise in Structures, gained in an Engineer role or equivalent.
Ability to produce or oversee technically sound engineering solutions.
Proficiency with relevant software (e.g., LUSAS, Autodesk Structural Bridge Design).
Good commercial awareness and understanding of CDM and risk assessment.
Management and communication of hazards and risks, with appropriate mitigation.
Incorporated or Chartered status with ICE or IstructE, or equivalent.
Degree in a relevant subject or demonstrable equivalent further learning.
