The Company:

Our client is a leading international consultancy specialising in forensic investigations for the built environment. Their engineers determine the causes of structural failures across buildings, transport infrastructure, industrial facilities and energy projects. Their reports often resolve litigation and influence improvements in design and construction practice. The firm is well regarded in the industry, offering excellent employment terms and clear routes for career development.

The Role:

The position involves investigating defects ranging from minor issues to major failures. Typical assignments include supervising site tests, gathering photographic evidence, and interviewing witnesses before analysing the data to establish the root cause. Reports must be clear enough for non‑technical readers yet robust enough to stand up in court if required. Work will be aligned with your technical expertise and supported by colleagues in civil, structural, geotechnical and materials engineering.

Profile Required:

A chartered civil (MICE) or chartered structural (MIStructE) engineer with at least ten years’ consultancy experience focused on building structures or civil structures. Naturally inquisitive, with the ability to think laterally and solve complex problems. Strong written and verbal communicator, able to produce clear reports and explain technical concepts with confidence.

Training & Progression:

Full training is provided, including investigation techniques and presentation of findings. With demand for these services continuing to grow, there is good scope for progression, potentially to director level.
