Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Highway and Drainage Focus
AECOM is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer with a highways and drainage focus to join our busy Development Infrastructure Team in St Albans. The team delivers multidisciplinary residential‑led infrastructure projects covering early scoping, technical support, detailed infrastructure design, and ongoing support during construction. The role also supports AECOM design teams across the UK and Ireland on projects such as highways, rail, water infrastructure, and solar farms.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical and digital delivery of civil engineering projects.
- Prepare and review survey specifications, including utilities and topographical surveys.
- Check and coordinate production of studies, assessments, and conceptual designs for development schemes (drainage, highways, utilities, earthworks, and flood risk).
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and key stakeholders to secure approvals and ensure compliance.
- Contribute to bids and proposals, attend project meetings, and confidently communicate technical solutions.
Qualifications
- Civil Engineering degree (BEng) and/or Master’s degree (MEng).
- Relevant experience, ideally within a consultancy environment, delivering highways and drainage design for residential, commercial and wider infrastructure schemes.
- Proficient in industry‑standard software, including InfoDrainage, AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Experience working with developer clients and contractors, with a proven track record of delivering infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with ArcGIS is welcomed but not essential, along with an interest in integrated AI solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- BEng or MEng with progress toward Incorporated or Chartered status with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), or membership of CIWEM or CIHT.
