As a Principal Civil/Highway Engineer, you’ll lead technical design and project coordination for infrastructure projects, ensuring quality, compliance, and efficiency in every stage of delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Leading the production of 3D models using Civil 3D modelling software.
- Generating detailed drawings from the 3D model to meet project specifications.
- Coordinating the technical output of the team, ensuring designs meet relevant industry standards, legislation, and client requirements.
- Reviewing design calculations and validating the basis of design assumptions.
- Acting as the technical reference for the team, providing expert guidance and support.
- Ensuring that junior team members maintain high design standards and quality outputs.
- Reviewing and commenting on designs from consultants and contractors.
- Ensuring compliance with BIM protocols and office drawing standards.
- Supporting the Director in preparing tender documents, scope of services, and fee proposals.
- Attending client meetings, site inspections, and project discussions.
About you
- A relevant degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent Level 6 qualification and, ideally, be Chartered or Incorporated with a professional body.
- Proficiency in creating Civil 3D models and extracting sections and quantities from them.
- Experience in Aviation and/or Highways sectors, with a solid understanding of industry design guides.
- Strong knowledge of relevant design software and technical standards.
- In-depth understanding of relevant legislation and industry standards.
- Experience in modelling, project management, and the management of design processes.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor junior members of the design team.
- Commercial awareness and an ability to manage project timelines, budgets, and resources.
