About the Role

As a Principal Civil Design Engineer, you will play a leading role in the delivery of civil engineering solutions across a wide range of energy projects. These may include Energy from Waste, solar, wind farms, substations, overhead lines, interconnectors, and connection schemes. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will support both FEED and detailed design phases, ensuring that civil design elements are delivered to a high standard and aligned with overall project objectives. This role offers the opportunity to work at the interface of multiple disciplines, contributing your expertise to complex and technically challenging projects while building strong relationships with clients and colleagues.

Your Impact

In this role, you will play a key part in delivering the civil engineering foundations that enable critical energy infrastructure to be built, upgraded, and maintained. Your designs will directly support the development of sustainable energy solutions, helping clients meet environmental targets while improving efficiency and resilience across the network. Through your technical leadership and problem-solving approach, you will contribute to the successful delivery of projects from concept through to construction, ensuring that solutions are practical, innovative, and aligned with industry standards. Your collaboration with multidisciplinary teams will help integrate civil design seamlessly into wider project delivery, driving better outcomes for clients. You will also have the opportunity to influence best practices, support the development of junior engineers, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. Ultimately, your work will play a meaningful role in advancing the UK’s energy transition and addressing some of the sector’s most pressing challenges.

About You

You are a proactive and technically strong Civil Design Engineer with a passion for the energy sector and a desire to contribute to impactful, future-focused projects. You bring both technical expertise and a collaborative mindset, enabling you to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and with a range of clients.

You will bring:

  • Progress towards Chartered Engineer status with the Engineering Council and ICE (preferred)
  • Strong experience delivering civil design within the Energy or Power sector
