Binnies, an RSK Group Company, is expanding its UK Water Services capability. We are seeking a Chartered Civil Engineer who is passionate about technical excellence, mentoring, and knowledge sharing. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys managing engineering teams and being the go-to technical authority, acting as a subject matter expert (SME) across civil engineering disciplines while supporting and developing our in-house talent within a collaborative design environment.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping high-quality, sustainable water and wastewater solutions while strengthening technical capability across our business.

As a Senior Civil Design Engineer / Engineering Manager, you will:
- act as the civil engineering subject matter expert across multiple projects,
- lead and review complex civil engineering designs, calculations, reports, and specifications,
- provide technical assurance, guidance, and problem-solving support to project teams,
- be the first point of contact for civil engineering technical queries,
- support the development and application of standards, tools, and best practice,
- mentor, coach, and train graduate and junior engineers, fostering technical confidence and capability,
- contribute to design reviews, risk management, and value engineering,
- collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and clients,
- support cost, programme, and quality objectives through sound technical decision-making.
We’re looking for a technically strong, people-focused engineer who enjoys sharing knowledge and raising standards.
Essential:
- Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng) status.
- Proven experience delivering detailed design within the water or wastewater sector.
- Strong technical judgement and ability to provide clear, pragmatic guidance.
- Passion for mentoring, training, and developing our in-house talent.
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to engage clients and stakeholders.
Desirable:
- Experience in undertaking engineering manager role on multi-disciplinary engineering projects.
- Experience with UK water industry clients.
- Familiarity with industry design standards and assurance processes.
- Coordination of overseas resources.
- Experience contributing to technical communities, guidance, or innovation initiatives.
