The Company: An independently owned consultancy employing over one hundred and fifty staff. Their multidiscipline engineering capability has evolved over several decades, providing ongoing work in transportation, utilities and buildings. Their considerable civil and structural capability is steadily growing, providing an excellent environment for career advancement.
The Role: Reporting to a principal engineer, you will be involved in civil and structural design, preparation of technical specifications, site inspections and assist with the preparation of bids and proposals. The position provides exceptional breadth, and your project workload will be varied covering ports & harbours, highways & rail. This will include new and improvement projects and will involve reinforced concrete, steel and masonry.
Training: Importance is placed on career development. Twice yearly reviews will steer your training requirements, there is an ongoing calendar of CPD activities, support is provided to achieve Incorporation or chartership with the ICE or IStructE and there is a highly successful in-house management training scheme.
Your Profile: You should be a degree or HND qualified civil or structural engineer and have future plans to achieve I.Eng or C.Eng status with the ICE or IStructE. A design background gained within a consulting or contracting environment focused on building or civil structures. Broad technical interest is required, enabling you to tackle a range of technical challenges. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as there will be regular interaction with clients and third parties. You should also have some working knowledge of AutoCAD or Microstation and industry standard structural analysis software.
