Murphy is recruiting for a Subcontract Buyer to work with the Energy Team on the SSE ASTI Framework.

A day in the life of a Murphy Subcontract Buyer includes:

  • Providing an effective and professional service in the procurement of sub-contractors and materials.
  • Working as part of a dedicated procurement team for the project.
  • Providing best value for project procurement solutions.
  • Procurement of materials and subcontracts covering production and management of the procurement schedule, development of invitation to tender documents in conjunction with project teams.
  • Carrying out tender analysis and award recommendations.
  • Advising on the project’s supply chain management activities, including structuring the supply chain and carrying out performance and relationship management to drive improved performance/cost benefits.
  • Supporting activities that generate and encourage efficient, productive and continuously improving supply chain performance.
  • Taking part in group procurement functional goals and objectives within the region.
  • Continuously seeking out and assessing new supply chain members to meet project demand.
  • Developing and forging closer relationships with the supply chain to encourage a culture of inclusive interaction and learning and an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding.

Requirements include:

  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of work practices, processes and procedures within the construction procurement process.
  • Existing business network and relationships with the supply chain.
  • Working knowledge of contracts, i.e. NEC.
  • Understanding of strategic procurement practices.
  • Knowledge of sustainability within procurement practices.
