The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a Transport Planner to join a busy, growing team and work on a diverse portfolio of planning-stage development projects for private-sector clients. You’ll support senior colleagues while gaining hands-on experience across all aspects of transport planning, with structured mentoring and training provided throughout.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Feasibility Studies and Travel Plans
  • Undertaking traffic generation, distribution and junction capacity analysis
  • Carrying out site visits and accessibility / active travel audits
  • Assisting with multi-modal access strategies and off-site highway improvement schemes
  • Working with industry-standard software including AutoCAD, GIS, TRICS, TEMPRO and JUNCTIONS
  • Collaborating closely with colleagues in related disciplines such as Flood Risk & Drainage

You’ll be encouraged to get involved across the full project lifecycle, building both technical capability and commercial awareness.

Training & Development

You’ll be joining a team led by a Chartered Transport Planner who is also an approved professional reviewer. This provides an excellent platform for mentoring and support as you work towards Chartered or Incorporated status. The consultancy offers a structured, accredited training environment with both internal and external development opportunities.

About You

We’re looking for a motivated and proactive Transport Planner who brings:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Geography or a related discipline
  • An MSc in Transport Planning (advantageous but not essential)
  • Typically 2–4 years’ experience in development-led transport planning (ideally private sector)
  • Experience contributing to Transport Assessments, access strategies and feasibility work
  • An interest in working toward a professional qualification (IEng, CEng or TPP)
  • Good numeracy, analytical and report-writing skills
  • A working knowledge of current guidance such as MfS, DMRB
  • Familiarity with software such as ARCADY, PICADY, LINSIG, GIS and Excel
  • CAD / GIS experience (beneficial, not essential)
  • A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm to learn and progress

Salary & Benefits
