Civil Engineer – Glasgow
We are looking for a motivated, degree-qualified Civil Engineer to join an established and growing engineering consultancy based in central Glasgow. The role requires a strong technical and commercial mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a diverse engineering design team.
While rail experience is advantageous, it is not essential. A significant portion of this role will involve working within the civils team, so you should have experience in designing one or more of the following:
- Slope stability
- Foundation design
- Ground anchors
- Gravity and embedded retaining walls
- Formwork and working platforms
- Culvert designs
- Report writing
The ideal candidate will have a solid technical background and be proficient in using MS Office, AutoCAD, Strand 7 (or equivalent FE analysis software), and Slope/W (or equivalent). Familiarity with Eurocodes, British Standards, and CDM Regulations is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake both concept and detailed design work
- Respond quickly and effectively to emerging project requirements
- Communicate design ideas through clear, well-presented drawings
- Work efficiently to meet project deadlines
- Conduct technical reviews of designs
Qualifications:
- Degree in Civil Engineering (ideally BEng/MEng, minimum 2:1)
- Working towards membership with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE)
- Clean driving licence
