A well established independent consultancy is looking for a façade engineer to join its Manchester office. Known for its detailed investigations into buildings and materials, the firm works across the UK, Europe, the Middle East and South East Asia. This position would suite to a senior facade engineer ready to progress or an associate seeking long term prospects and a change of pace. The work is steady, varied and intellectually rewarding.
Your Role
You will examine faults in building façades, whether arising from design issues, material failure, poor construction practice or structural concerns. Your responsibility will be to identify the underlying cause and advise on appropriate remedial measures. Once a design consultant is appointed, you will review their proposals and provide technical input during construction if required. The role also involves site visits, working with insurers, loss adjusters and legal teams, and applying your expertise in new and engaging contexts. Occasional travel within the UK and overseas will be part of your work.
The Company
With decades of experience in forensic investigations, this independent consultancy combines technical depth with a collaborative approach. It has an international presence, with projects and expertise extending across Europe, the Middle East and South East Asia. Its knowledge spans façade design, building physics, architecture and conservation, supported by in house laboratories and testing facilities. Staff turnover is low, and the firm is respected by both clients and employees. Operating outside the competitive tendering cycles of mainstream engineering, the company offers stability, career progression and job security even in uncertain markets.
Your Profile
You should be a façade engineer with at least six years of design experience, strong analytical skills and the ability to think laterally. You hold a degree with a 2:1 or above. Chartered status with IStructE, ICE or RIBA is preferred.
