About the Role
Following major AMP8 framework wins and continued growth across UK water companies, Binnies (part of the RSK Group) is expanding its UK Water Services capability. We are seeking a Chartered Civil Engineer to provide technical leadership and lead our Birmingham-based civil engineering team. This role suits an experienced engineer who enjoys being a technical authority and subject matter expert, while also mentoring and developing engineers within a collaborative design environment. You’ll play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, sustainable water and wastewater infrastructure solutions, while strengthening technical capability across the business.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Act as the civil engineering subject matter expert across multiple projects
- Lead and review complex designs, calculations, reports, and specifications
- Provide technical assurance and problem-solving support to project teams
- Be the first point of contact for civil engineering technical queries
- Support the development and application of standards, tools, and best practice
- Mentor and develop graduate, junior, and apprentice engineers
- Contribute to design reviews, risk management, and value engineering
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and clients
- Support cost, programme, and quality objectives through sound technical decision-making
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng) or equivalent experience, working towards chartership
- Proven experience delivering outline and detailed design in the water or wastewater sector
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary and remote resources
- Strong technical judgement and clear, pragmatic communication
- A passion for mentoring and developing engineers
Desirable:
- Experience across infra and non-infra water projects
- Familiarity with UK water industry design standards and assurance processes
- Experience coordinating overseas resources
- Involvement in technical communities or innovation initiatives
