About the Role

A key strand of the Engineering Knowledge division mission is making the ICE the go-to place for infrastructure specialists seeking a network that allows knowledge exchange to flourish. Our Specialist Knowledge Societies (SKS) are closely affiliated membership bodies with interests in specialist areas of civil engineering. The ICE is currently seeking an SKS Executive who will manage, develop, and nurture multiple societies and networks by creating and maintaining a vibrant forum for engineers and infrastructure professionals to communicate and collaborate. The SKS Executive will act as a relationship manager to several societies to leverage these associations. They will assist in the day‑time administration and development of SKS activity to identify and share engineering knowledge for the benefit of ICE members to support their professional development. The SKS Executive will support organising committees in the successful running of their organisation through the provision of secretariat activities, membership management, and achieving targets and goals effectively within time and budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide secretariat support to committees.
  • Manage meetings, organising venues, preparing minutes and progressing actions following the meeting.
  • Provide administrative support to Committee Chairs to maintain their engagement.
  • Engage with SKS committee members to ensure that SKS business is managed effectively.
  • Review committee processes in order to identify areas for improvement.
  • Regularly review communication & operational processes with SKS Chairs and committees.
  • Process SKS membership applications.
  • Respond to enquiries from SKS members regarding membership, events or other matters.
  • Respond to enquiries from ICE members regarding SKS membership or knowledge sharing opportunities.
  • Assist SKS committees in liaison with the SKS Events Team on the arrangement, publication and promotion of events.
  • Work with the Engineering Networks Manager to ensure that the service offered is valued and meets customer expectations.

  • Advanced knowledge of Office 365, including SharePoint/Teams.
  • Report writing and minute-taking skills are essential.
  • Stakeholder management skills are essential.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to use initiative to solve problems.
  • Ability to facilitate and manage diverse groups of expert members.
  • Network builder and creative thinker.
  • Affinity for engineering and humanitarian development is desirable.

  • Experience of managing projects and implementing processes is essential.
  • Experience in supporting the delivery of events is essential.
  • Some experience in writing content.
  • Experience of data input and CRM software is desirable.
