Key purpose of the job
As a Social Care Worker, you will provide holistic Supports with day-to-day living, for individuals with a learning disability, autism or associated mental health needs. You will deliver person-centred and empowering provisions of support, to meet the individual needs of our service users.
Main responsibilities
- Provide assistance to Service Users in all aspects of personal care.
- Ensure the Human Rights of each Service User is exercised with the utmost degree of integrity and respect.
- Ensure a safe environment is maintained at all times for both Service Users, work colleagues and visitors to the unit/house.
- Encourage each Service User to live in accordance with their own wishes and preferences, promoting their individuality through new opportunities, skills and innate abilities.
- Support each Service User in the least restrictive of ways, ensuring positive risk taking is a given element to their decision-making abilities.
- Work in line with evidence-based practices to ensure that each person is supported to live life to their fullest potential.
- Maintain a high level of hygiene and cleanliness of the residential setting and ensure that all procedures relating to safe food practices and infection control are carried out and documented.
- Follow medication administration procedures, ensuring medication is administered using the 10 rights of medication administration.
- Participate in meetings and service user reviews; and feedback information to management and the wider MDT when appropriate.
- Attend and participate in all regulatory, mandatory and development training as assigned by the organisation and/or your line manager.
Person Specification – Social Care Worker
- Third Level Qualification or equivalent in Social Care or a related discipline and/or a minimum of 2 years’ employment experience in a similar role.
- Experience of supporting individuals who present with challenging behaviour.
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Word & Outlook.
- Working knowledge of Regulatory Frameworks and best practice.
- Essential that applicants hold a full UK/ROI driving licence and access to a car.
