St Catherine’s Hospice is a respected local charity providing specialist hospice care alongside statutory service partners (GPs, District nursing etc) across West Sussex and East Surrey. We provide care in communities across Surrey and Sussex which are richly diverse and we want to reflect that in everything we do. The Role

This post is offered on a bank basis, covering ad-hoc hours depending on business need. This is a great opportunity if you're looking for flexibility, picking up shifts to suit your availability, while supporting the team during busy periods, holidays and shortages. This position would suit someone who is seeking a flexible working arrangement, who has availability across a variety of days and times, the shift times are between 7.30am - 7pm.

About You

We are seeking an experienced Chef with a strong background in food preparation and catering to support our Kitchen team. Whether you are seeking work-life balance, or are newly qualified and looking to develop your expertise, this role offers a broad range of skills and opportunities. Our Chefs carefully adapt menus to meet special requests and individual needs, as well as catering for important occasions such as fundraising events, patient and family celebrations. We require a caring, dependable Chef to work collaboratively with the team to deliver high quality food.

Bank Chef role involves:

  • Preparing freshly made meals for patients, families and staff and tailoring needs for special requirements
  • Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene, allergens and dietary needs
  • Utilising or developing skills in baking and desserts
  • Supporting the Kitchen Lead with catering for events
  • Working with our friendly kitchen team made up of staff and volunteers

Benefits

Generous annual leave starting at 25 days, rising to 30 days with length of service, plus Bank Holidays, and an opportunity to buy/sell annual leave days. Plus we offer a day off for volunteering.
