ICE Clear Europe's Clearing Risk Department ("CRD") is looking for a front office risk manager. The successful candidate will work closely with senior management to oversee and shape the risk management practice at one of the largest futures and options clearing houses in the world. You will join a dynamic team, be exposed to a wide range of asset classes, and be challenged with complex risk problems. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of dayātoāday risk management and for driving improvement and enhancement initiatives, including identifying, developing and overseeing the implementation of new riskāmanagement tools and techniques to strengthen processes and controls. You will also contribute to the design and implementation of new risk initiatives and products that benefit the business.
Responsibilities
- Identify areas where risk models, riskāmanagement processes, or infrastructure can be improved.
- Assist with designing and implementing improvements and enhancements to models, risk infrastructure, and processes. Act as the project lead through completion.
- Communicate frequently with representatives from clearing members, risk committees, and senior management of Intercontinental Exchange (ICE).
- Strike the right balance between complying with global regulatory standards and achieving commercial business requirements.
- Ensure the riskāmanagement framework and risk policies are adhered to and consistent with regulatory and industry standards.
- Monitor model performance tests and assess the appropriateness of models to demonstrate policy adherence.
- Conduct mathematical/statistical analysis to calibrate and enhance risk models.
- Collaborate with colleagues on key policy and methodology development.
- Document risk policies and models for clearing members, regulators, risk committees and other governance bodies.
- Conduct project work and run thematic or adāhoc market research on relevant risk topics.
- Set examples for a team of risk analysts to foster a strong risk culture.
Knowledge and Experience
- Master's Degree in Mathematical Finance or an equivalent degree.
- Attention to detail and strong problemāsolving skills with the ability to balance tradeāoffs.
- Must have demonstrable experience in a role of the same or equivalent level, or relevant professional experience in risk management and/or risk systems. At least some of this experience should have been gained in an investment bank, hedge fund or clearing house.
- Strong knowledge of financial derivatives products in one or more asset classes (e.g., oil, power, gas, interest rates, equity, softs).
- Proven ability to apply riskāmanagement models and techniques such as Value at Risk models, liquidity risk models, backātesting and stressātesting models.
- Ability to be a team player and to help create a strong risk culture.
- Proven ability to conduct research, analyse problems, formulate and implement solutions efficiently, effectively and independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and comfort in communicating risk issues to senior management for decisionāmaking purposes.
- Experience with SQL and Python preferred.
