We are seeking an experienced Regional Planner to lead the planning function across a designated geographical region, overseeing programme development, monitoring and reporting throughout both pre-construction and construction phases. This role is responsible for ensuring consistency, quality and compliance in planning outputs while supporting regional leadership teams in achieving successful project delivery. The Regional Planner will also provide leadership to regional planning teams, driving continuous improvement, innovation and professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Health & Safety
    • Ensure all planning assumptions and decisions align with company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
    • Review and evaluate how health and safety requirements are integrated into project programmes.
  • Programme Development & Control
    • Support regional leadership in assessing programme risks at prequalification stage (bid/no bid).
    • Oversee development of baseline contract programmes covering design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.
    • Review and validate target programmes, ensuring opportunities for improvement are identified.
    • Validate subcontractor tender event programmes, ensuring accuracy and achievability.
    • Maintain and oversee planning records within a Common Data Environment (CDE).
    • Coordinate the development of 4D models and/or 2D phasing plans to support programme delivery.
    • Oversee development of construction methodologies that clearly demonstrate sequencing and safe delivery techniques.
    • Review and approve project preliminaries including staffing, logistics and temporary works.
    • Engage with supply chain partners to review and validate inputs on design deliverables, lead-in times, labour, plant and programme durations.
    • Review risks and opportunities within programmes and advise on mitigation strategies, including float and time risk allowances.
  • Reporting, Progress & As-Built Information
    • Evaluate and define tracking schedules to monitor subcontractor programmes.
    • Collate and review as-built programmes, identifying deviations from baseline schedules.
    • Ensure programme impact assessments are accurately reflected within change requests.
    • Define and oversee the use of 4D/2D phasing information for projects.
    • Consolidate and validate output rates to track live project progress and feed insights into pre-construction activities.
    • Lead peer reviews of planning outputs to maintain consistency and quality across the region.
  • Management & Leadership
    • Lead the regional planning team, ensuring consistency in planning documents, formats and outputs.
    • Report programme performance and associated risks to regional leadership on a regular basis.
    • Conduct performance and development reviews for planners, ensuring professional growth and training needs are met.
    • Define deliverables and review planning outputs across both pre-construction and live projects.
    • Independently review programme positions for all regional contracts during monthly review meetings.
    • Establish quality standards for planning outputs across the region.
    • Benchmark programme periods using subcontractor input, historic data and team consultation.
    • Support leadership teams in implementing business improvement initiatives related to planning and programme management.

Qualifications

  • Essential
    • Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline.
    • Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
    • Certification or advanced training in planning and programme software such as ASTA Powerproject or Primavera P6.
  • Desirable
    • Membership, or eligibility for membership, of a relevant professional body such as CIOB, ICE or APM.
    • Advanced training in ASTA Powerproject including progress analysis, S-curve reporting and cost/resource management.
    • Training in BIM, Synchro and collaborative data platforms.
    • Training in leadership, people management and presentation techniques.
