About the Opportunity

Our client is a leading engineering and construction contractor delivering large-scale projects across data centres, pharmaceuticals, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure sectors throughout Ireland and Europe. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to join their Dublin-based procurement team. This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional to take ownership of key projects, manage supplier relationships, drive strategic sourcing initiatives, and mentor a growing team within a fast-paced engineering environment.

The Role

As Senior Buyer, you will play a critical role in supporting major projects by developing procurement strategies, managing supplier performance, negotiating commercial agreements, and ensuring materials and services are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. You will work closely with project teams, suppliers, and senior stakeholders while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across procurement operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead procurement activities across multiple engineering and construction projects.
  • Develop project-specific procurement strategies to support delivery, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Manage supplier sourcing, evaluation, negotiation, selection, and performance monitoring.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key domestic and international suppliers.
  • Negotiate framework agreements, commercial contracts, and rebate arrangements.
  • Identify opportunities to optimise costs, improve supply chain resilience, and mitigate procurement risks.
  • Lead regular procurement review meetings with project teams and stakeholders.
  • Prepare procurement reports, spend analysis, and supplier performance reviews.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across procurement processes and systems.
  • Support and develop strategic supply chain partnerships.
  • Ensure compliance with company procurement and quality procedures.
  • Mentor and support junior procurement team members.
  • Contribute to sustainability and ESG-focused procurement initiatives.

About You

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a procurement or purchasing role.
  • Experience within the engineering, construction, manufacturing, or industrial sectors.
  • Strong commercial negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and procurement priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience using ERP systems such as SAP is advantageous.
  • Professional procurement qualification (IIPMM, CIPS, or equivalent) desirable.
