We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Lead to join a high-performing Life Sciences team. Reporting to the Project Director and working closely with the MEP Lead and Engineering Management team, the Electrical Lead will be responsible for the overall delivery of electrical systems on life sciences and technology projects. This role provides both technical and managerial leadership, ensuring all electrical works are designed, installed, tested, and commissioned to the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance. The successful candidate will ensure project objectives relating to programme, budget, and regulatory requirements are achieved while promoting strong collaboration across engineering, construction, commissioning, and client teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Delivery
    • Lead the electrical team and oversee delivery of all electrical systems including LV/MV distribution, UPS, generators, lighting, fire alarms, and life safety systems.
    • Ensure all electrical works meet programme, cost, and quality objectives.
    • Provide technical guidance to engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to support effective project delivery.
    • Develop and implement strategies for electrical execution, resource allocation, and planning.
  • Technical and Compliance Oversight
    • Review and approve electrical design documents, technical submittals, and material selections.
    • Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulations (IEC, BS, IEEE, NFPA).
    • Oversee FATs, SATs, commissioning, and integrated system testing (IST) for electrical scope.
    • Support validation and handover processes with accurate documentation and system certification.
  • Quality, Safety and Risk Management
    • Drive health, safety, and environmental compliance across all electrical works.
    • Implement and monitor QA/QC procedures for electrical systems.
    • Identify project risks, propose mitigation strategies, and ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Stakeholder and Team Coordination
    • Act as the primary point of contact for the electrical scope with clients, consultants, and regulatory bodies.
    • Coordinate electrical works with mechanical, process, instrumentation, and BMS teams to ensure seamless project integration.
    • Lead electrical coordination meetings and provide accurate reporting on progress, risks, and opportunities to project leadership.

Qualifications:

Essential

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Proven experience leading electrical delivery on large-scale construction or engineering projects.
  • Relevant health and safety training (e.g. Safe Pass, CSCS, or equivalent).

Desirable

  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional membership (e.g. Engineers Ireland, IET, CIBSE).
  • Postgraduate qualification in Project Management or Construction Management.
  • Vendor-specific training or certification in switchgear, UPS, or critical power systems.
  • Training in GMP, cleanroom, or regulatory compliance relevant to life sciences and technology sectors.
