We are looking for an Experienced Forest Works Manager/ Chainsaw Operator for a full-time, on-site role in Kintyre/ South Argyll. The Forest Works Manager will oversee forestry cutting operations, ensure adherence to safety and environmental standards, and manage teams of chainsaw operators to achieve agreed targets. Daily tasks include planning and delegating work schedules, maintaining equipment, monitoring quality, and ensuring workflows operate efficiently. The role requires collaboration with stakeholders, documentation and reporting of project outcomes, and active engagement in maintaining a safe and productive work environment.

Qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge of forestry operations, including felling, extraction, and site management
  • Experience with team leadership and the ability to manage and motivate workers effectively
  • Proficiency in health, safety, and environmental compliance to ensure safe work practices
  • Skills in equipment operation and maintenance, with attention to workplace efficiency and quality
  • Strong planning, communication, and problem-solving abilities
  • Familiarity with rural land management and sustainable forestry practices
  • Relevant certifications in forestry or operational safety standards - IRATA (desirable, not essential), Large Trees, Climbing tickets, PA1/ PA6 qualifications, First Aid+
  • Driving licence and willingness to travel to various sites across Scotland

Remuneration

Excellent remuneration package based on competence. Pension. Family accommodation available (currently under refurbishment). May suit a couple operating as a cutting team with the potential of a second post to provide full-time employment for both individuals.
