Role Overview
Liquidnet Europe Limited is looking for a Senior Front Office Support Engineer to take a leading role within the Europe Front Office Support team.
The team requires an experienced, technically strong engineer who can drive operational excellence, mentor junior team members, and take ownership of complex issues across our trading platform.
You will leverage deep expertise in FIX, Linux, Windows Server, Dev Ops, databases, networking, and cloud technologies to ensure platform reliability and performance.
This is a hands‑on leadership role involving complex troubleshooting across cross‑platform market‑leading technologies, driving automation and tooling improvements, and acting as the primary escalation point for critical production issues.
You will lead projects, drive new feature implementations, oversee client migrations, and champion Liquidnet’s migration to cloud‑based technologies.
The role also includes oversight of member user administration, OMS integration support, and trade lifecycle issues for both the MTF platform and trading desk, with a focus on root‑cause analysis and preventative improvements.
The successful candidate should possess a positive ‘can‑do’ attitude and an intuitively high level of customer service in their approach.
This will complement strong FIX, database (SQL, Sybase or Oracle), Linux, understanding of cloud‑based technologies, Windows and Networking troubleshooting skills, along with a proven ability to lead and mentor.
- Role Responsibilities
- Act as technical lead and primary escalation point for complex application support issues, driving root‑cause analysis and resolution across the trading platform
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering technical growth and ensuring knowledge transfer within the team
- Design, implement, and maintain automation solutions to streamline workflows, reduce manual effort, and improve operational efficiency across key business processes
- Own and drive projects including new feature implementations, client migrations, and cloud migration initiatives
- Fulfil and oversee complex client customisation requests within algorithmic trading systems and MTF platform
- Manage and optimise team processes including chat, queue, and mailbox workflows to ensure SLA adherence
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and analysis of order routing, trade flow, and post‑trade issues
- Lead the ‘follow the sun’ support model coordination, working closely with global teams in APAC and US
- Drive incident management practices, trend identification, and post‑mortem analysis.
Collaborate with development teams to influence platform improvements based on support insights
- Occasional weekend work will be required during major upgrades and out of hours testing
Experience / Competences
Essential
- Hands‑on production support experience within a financial institution (buy‑side, sell‑side, venue/platform provider)
- Deep application support experience within a Unix / Linux environment
- Expert working knowledge of the FIX protocol, including complex debugging of FIX sessions and message flows
- Strong experience supporting and troubleshooting Windows Server environments
- Advanced experience in troubleshooting network problems: firewalls, routing, DNS, load balancers, and connectivity issues
- Working knowledge of multiple buy‑side or sell‑side Order Management Systems
- Strong understanding of international equity market mechanics, flows, and settlement processes
- Proven ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously, delivering to deadlines
- Expert‑level experience with MSSQL, Oracle and Sybase database environments, including complex query‑writing and performance tuning

- Practical understanding of global Listed Derivatives markets and system workflows
- Proven experience managing cloud‑based infrastructure and services (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including architecture design and cost optimisation
- Strong understanding of Dev Ops principles and practices, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (Ia C), and automated testing
- Experience with industry‑standard monitoring tools (ITRS or similar) including configuration and alert design
- Advanced automation experience using Python, PERL, or similar scripting languages, including building tooling for the wider team
- Understanding of financial regulations and reporting requirements in EMEA and Asia cash equity markets
