Volunteer Governor Role

The vast majority of students attend the Weybridge campus. This campus is currently undergoing a major transformation, partly funded by the sale of part of the estate for housing and community use. The Ashford site accommodates 16-19 learners enrolled on Business and Electrical Installation programmes. It also provides English Language, mathematics, and English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses in the daytime and evenings.

The College provides a broad range of full and part-time education and training for learners and apprentices. Ofsted (January 2024) judged the College as Good, providing consistently good education and training, and a safe and inclusive learning environment for all. Local school links are strong, with the College experiencing increased demand for places on our 16-19 programmes in recent years. The College has good financial health, generating the cash needed to invest in further improvements to benefit our students.

Brooklands College is a successful College of Further Education, based at two campuses in Weybridge and Ashford in Surrey. We are looking for new volunteer governors with an accountancy or audit background to serve on our Corporation Board, and either our Finance and Resources Committee or our Audit and Risk Committee. We are committed to expanding the diversity of our Board to reflect that of our student body, and would welcome expressions of interest from individuals from a variety of backgrounds.

Brooklands College has an excellent reputation for the successful delivery of a wide range of vocational courses to young people and adults to meet the needs of our local and regional economy, and our communities. Due to our rich history and association with Brooklands racetrack and Vickers who started manufacturing aircraft on the site in 1915, we offer both motorsport and general engineering courses up to degree level. The Locke King family, who lived in Brooklands House on the Weybridge college site, were pioneers of their time and their creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship shapes the spirit of the College. We are proud of our heritage and continue to instil this ethos into college life.
