We are seeking a Mechanical Team Lead to join a high-performing engineering team within a cutting-edge aerospace company. This role combines technical leadership, hands-on mechanical design, and project ownership across complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate department goals and objectives into team-level goals, KPIs, and initiatives.
- Lead and manage the mechanical engineering team, including working practices, processes, and project delivery.
- Identify and address capability gaps within the team.
- Take ownership of project work packages and improvement initiatives, coordinating internal engineers and external partners.
- Act as both a subject matter expert and individual contributor, collaborating with other disciplines.
- Manage human resource priorities, advise on policies, and report on HR initiatives.
- Guide management on organisational expectations and ensure team compliance with policies and standards.
Skills & Knowledge
- Proven ability to lead product development in mechanical engineering.
- 10+ years in mechanical design of high-tech equipment across the full product lifecycle.
- Experience with optical systems.
- Expert knowledge of mechanical design and drawing standards for precision machined and sheet metal parts.
- Proficient in SolidWorks; FEA or flow simulation skills are advantageous.
- Strong practical, hands-on skills with knowledge of modern manufacturing methods.
- Strong organisational skills for managing multiple concurrent activities.
