I am working with a team that is looking for an experienced Senior Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) Design Engineer to join an innovative team developing next-generation photonic technologies. You will play a key role in the design, simulation, optimisation, and delivery of advanced photonic integrated circuits, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to bring cutting-edge optical products from concept through to manufacture.

About You

  • Degree in Photonics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline (MSc/PhD advantageous)
  • Proven experience designing and developing photonic integrated circuits in a commercial or research environment
  • Strong understanding of silicon photonics, optical device physics, and PIC design methodologies
  • Experience using industry-standard simulation and design tools such as Lumerical, IPKISS, OptoDesigner, or equivalent
  • Ability to design, model, optimise, and validate PIC components and systems for fabrication and testing
  • Experience collaborating with process, test, systems, and product engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle
  • Capable of leading technical discussions, contributing to design reviews, and mentoring junior engineers
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with a collaborative approach to engineering
