Quality Engineer
As a Quality Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring both customer quality assurance and supplier quality performance within the semiconductor industry. Your primary focus will be leading customer return investigations, driving timely and structured 8D analysis, and working closely with the Failure Analysis (FA) team, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure effective resolution and long-term quality improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage the customer return process, from initial logging through to resolution, ensuring effective execution of 8D investigations.
- Lead communication with customers, providing timely updates on containment actions, root cause findings, and corrective/preventive measures.
- Coordinate and prioritise failure analysis activities with the FA team based on customer impact, urgency, and business priorities.
- Guide internal teams and suppliers on structured problem-solving techniques, including 8D, 5 Whys, and Fishbone diagrams.
- Perform initial electrical and visual inspections of customer returns to support the investigation process.
- Ensure customer complaints and field failures are effectively flowed down to suppliers, driving accountability and timely corrective measures.
Experience required for the role:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a quality engineering role within the semiconductor or automotive electronics industry.
- Strong understanding of semiconductor processes, including wafer fabrication, ASIC assembly, and testing.
- Hands-on experience with quality standards and systems such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and VDA 6.3.
- Working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, and SPC tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
