I’m currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineering & Test Engineering Manager to join an established OEM/engineering business. This is a hands-on technical leadership role, managing a small specialist team across mechanical production engineering and test engineering, while working closely with Operations, Design Engineering, Product Management and manufacturing partners.
The role will have significant ownership of:
- Leading and developing a small engineering team
- Troubleshooting production issues, field failures and customer escalations
- Developing and improving production test methods, test rigs and equipment
- Leading a major project to modernise legacy test-bed methodology
- Improving test cycle times, production efficiency and diagnostic capability
- Supporting NPI, design transfer and production readiness
- Working with manufacturing partners on root cause analysis and corrective actions
We’re looking for someone with:
- A strong Mechanical, Manufacturing, Production or Test Engineering background
- Experience within an OEM, manufacturing or product-based environment
- Previous technical/team leadership experience
- Strong hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience with production testing, test equipment or test rigs
- Experience working with manufacturing partners or contract manufacturers
- A practical, proactive approach with the ability to lead projects independently
