My client is seeking an Engineering Technician to join a Research & Development team. This role is ideal for someone with strong, hands-on shop-floor experience who is looking to transition into a more engineering-focused support position. If you enjoy solving practical technical problems and want to broaden your engineering skill set, this role offers a clear pathway for development within an innovative R&D environment.
Role responsibilities
- Assembling and supporting prototype builds
- Carrying out test activities, measurements, and data collection
- Performing fault-finding and root-cause investigation on development hardware
- Providing day-to-day technical support to R&D engineers
- Supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, ensuring smooth transition from prototype to production
- Feeding back practical, experience-driven insights to improve designs, processes, and manufacturability
- Recording build, test, and measurement data using Excel
Skills & experience
- Minimum of 3 yearsβ hands-on experience operating and supporting fibre optic equipment
- Practical experience with fibre fusion splicing and preparation
- Experience supporting R&D or NPI activities
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working in a workshop and R&D environment
- Ability to document work clearly and accurately
