We are seeking a Mechanical Team Lead to join a high-performing engineering team within a cutting-edge high tech company. This role combines technical leadership, hands-on mechanical design, and project ownership across complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
Responsibilities
- Translate department goals and objectives into team-level goals, KPIs, and initiatives
- Lead and manage the mechanical engineering team, including working practices, processes, and project delivery
- Identify and address capability gaps within the team
- Take ownership of project work packages and improvement initiatives, coordinating internal engineers and external partners
- Act as both a subject matter expert and individual contributor, collaborating with other disciplines
- Manage human resource priorities, advise on policies, and report on HR initiatives
- Guide management on organisational expectations and ensure team compliance with policies and standards
Qualifications
- Proven ability to lead product development in mechanical engineering
- 10+ years in mechanical design of high-tech equipment across the full product lifecycle
- Experience with optical systems
- Expert knowledge of mechanical design and drawing standards for precision machined and sheet metal parts
- Proficient in SolidWorks; FEA or flow simulation skills are advantageous
- Strong practical, hands-on skills with knowledge of modern manufacturing methods
