About The Role
This is a rare opportunity to take a leading role in shaping the silicon behind what aims to be the world’s first space-based mobile broadband network. As a SoC Design & Verification Lead, you’ll join a small, highly focused team tackling genuinely hard engineering problems where your decisions will directly influence the success of a global communications platform. Working at the intersection of advanced silicon and satellite communications, you’ll help define and deliver next‑generation SoCs using cutting‑edge process technologies. The environment is fast‑paced and collaborative, with a strong emphasis on technical ownership, innovation, and execution.
Role Overview
In this position, you will take on a key technical leadership role across the full SoC lifecycle, spanning architecture, design, integration, verification, and delivery. You’ll combine hands‑on engineering with leadership responsibilities, driving both the technical direction and the execution of complex ASIC developments. You will work closely with architecture, software, validation teams, and external silicon partners to ensure designs meet performance, quality, and schedule targets. Alongside this, you’ll mentor engineers and help establish strong design and verification practices across the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design and verification of a complex SoC, from micro‑architecture definition through implementation
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders (architecture, software, validation, silicon partners)
- Drive design and verification reviews, ensuring technical rigor and effective risk management
- Own project execution, ensuring alignment with schedule, quality, and performance goals
- Mentor and support junior engineers, promoting best practices and technical excellence
Minimum Qualifications
- BEng (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- Deep understanding of hardware and digital design fundamentals
- Proven experience with large‑scale SoC integration
- Strong SystemVerilog expertise
- Good understanding of UVM methodology
- Experience with complex RTL designs (e.g. high‑speed I/O, CPUs, DSP, accelerators, NoCs)
- Ability to produce clear, high‑quality micro‑architecture specifications
- Exposure to communications, signal processing, or mixed‑signal ASIC/SoC design
What’s On Offer
- Competitive base salary and RSU package
- Opportunity to work on truly groundbreaking technology
- A key role within a fast‑moving, high‑impact start‑up environment
This role is best suited to engineers motivated by building cutting‑edge systems and solving challenging problems. You should be comfortable operating in a dynamic environment and excited by the opportunity to help deliver advanced silicon for next‑generation space‑based communications.
Please note
You must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to work onsite in Edinburgh at least 3 days per week.
